Professionalisation

How does professionalisation happen at Excelia Business School?

At Excelia Business School, professionalisation does not happen only at the end of the course: it runs through the whole of your studies, carried by internship periods, work-study, projects carried out for real organisations and field assignments. Each of these formats follows the same logic of progression.

The first years are used to discover a sector, a job, an organisation, often alongside teams already in post. Then comes the time for putting things into practice, where the skills learned in class find real ground to be exercised on. The final years, lastly, give students wider responsibilities, as their experience grows and their career plan becomes clearer.

Internships, throughout the course

Every Excelia Business School programme includes periods spent with companies, whose duration and timing within the course vary from one programme to another and from one year to the next: each programme's page details them precisely, with its own calendar.

What Excelia Business School provides, however, does not vary: support in finding an internship, preparation before you leave and support throughout the whole time spent with the company, so that this experience genuinely serves everyone's career plan. An internship can also take place abroad, which lets you combine professional experience with international exposure, a dimension that our international programmes develop more fully.

To find out the exact arrangements for a specific programme, its duration, its time of year, its entry requirements, it is best to check our programmes, each of which details its own internship calendar.

Work-study: learning with a company

Several Excelia Business School programmes are available on a work-study basis, which lets you follow your training while holding a position with a company. The Master in Management (Programme Grande École) has been available through apprenticeship since 1997, a track record that has since fed the school's experience on other programmes.

Holding a position with a company during your training genuinely changes things: the professional experience you build up adds to the degree obtained at the end. The exact rhythm (the number of days spent with the company, how they are spread across the year) depends on each programme, and it is the relevant programme page that you need to check to find out.

Is your programme one of those that opens the way to work-study, and at what rhythm? Request the brochure for the programme that interests you: it sets out, programme by programme, the terms of access to work-study.

A network that stays with you after graduation

The Excelia Business School alumni network extends this support long after graduation, through introductions, career advice and exchanges between alumni.

This network is part of something larger: the Excelia network has 53,000 graduates, in 150 countries, a community that every student can draw on once they have left Excelia Business School, whether that means reaching out to a graduate established in their target sector or simply keeping a connection with their own journey.

This connection with graduates is not limited to employability: it is also part of our school and its student life, where the first bonds that will later feed this network are built from the very start of your studies.

From when can you do an internship at Excelia Business School?

Internship periods are spread throughout the course, from the 1^st year onwards, but their exact number and precise timing vary depending on the programme. Each Excelia Business School programme page states the internship calendar that applies to it.

Does the school help you find your internship or work-study placement?

Yes: Excelia Business School supports the search for internships and work-study placements, prepares students for their applications and provides support throughout the time spent with the company, without however guaranteeing a placement.

Can you do your internship abroad?

Yes, an internship can take place abroad, in addition to the experience gained in France. This international dimension adds to the many mobility opportunities offered by the school.

What is the difference between an internship and work-study?

An internship is a temporary period spent with a company during the course, with no change of status. Work-study is based on an employment contract: the student becomes an employee of the host company, while continuing their studies on one of the programmes that offer it.

Is the alumni network open to all programmes?

Yes. The Excelia Business School alumni network brings together alumni from all the school's programmes, with no distinction of course or level of qualification obtained.
