Professional experience and employability
Support towards employment is not limited to an office you discover in your final year. At Excelia Business School, it begins from the moment you join the course, relies on named schemes, and continues through internships, work-study and the alumni network.
Support that begins in the first year
At Excelia Business School, preparation for employment does not wait until the final year: it is built into the course from the moment you join, rather than left to a service you would discover when it is time to leave. Many schools use the same words (support, employability, network) without saying what they really cover. What sets genuine preparation apart comes down to three observable elements, not adjectives.
- individualised support throughout the course, not just as graduation approaches
- regular links with companies, which multiply opportunities for internships and work-study
- career skills taught as a subject in their own right: networking, interviews, showcasing your profile
Whether you are assessing a return on investment here or your child's future, these criteria are verified in concrete terms rather than in a sales pitch. Individualised support, for example, is judged by the actual frequency of appointments, not by a phrase printed on a brochure. Links with companies matter because they are regular, not because a single figure illustrates them on a given day; and if career skills are taught as a subject in their own right, it is because they have a place in the timetable, not just in a sales argument.
At Excelia Business School, these three elements come together from the first year, as an extension of our approach to professionalisation: this is not a one-off scheme activated at the end of the course, but a continuity that builds a solid professional path, whatever programme you follow. The service that carries this continuity has a name: the Talent Centre, presented below.
The Talent Centre, Excelia Business School's career service
The Talent Centre, Excelia Business School's career service, supports students on four strands: self-knowledge, knowledge of companies and careers, showcasing your profile, and relating to others. It is not a desk you visit once: it is a thread that runs through the whole course, with formats that change according to what you need at any given moment.
The Dream Career pathway, comprehensive support for your application, is the most complete illustration of this: online modules, intensive workshops and coaching follow one another to refine your profile, your stance and your career plans.
When the situation calls for it, one-to-one coaching takes over, led by certified coaches who work with you on a tailored basis. The Talent Pool scheme, a targeted introduction to companies that are recruiting, then comes into play to bring your profile closer to the vacancies available. Accelerator programmes round off this foundation, for those who want to go further or faster in their plans.
One question remains that these schemes do not settle on their own: which one matters most for you depends on your course, your specialisation and where you are in your studies. To discuss this with a dedicated adviser, you can book an appointment with an Excelia Business School adviser, who will help you choose the right entry point into the Talent Centre.
Professional experience throughout the course
At Excelia Business School, internships and work-study punctuate the course and build the experience recruiters expect: this is not an isolated stage, but a thread that runs through the whole of your studies, from the first classes to the most advanced specialisations. From the first year, an internship puts you in contact with a company, its decision-making processes and its real constraints: a practical scenario that then feeds every choice of specialisation, including for those who go on to our Master of Science (MSc) programmes after an undergraduate cycle.
As the course progresses, work-study takes over from internships for the programmes that offer it, with its own arrangements: the page devoted to it details them, programme by programme. For those who prefer to build their own project rather than join a company, the school also directs these profiles towards the entrepreneurship support offered to students, to help an idea mature before it becomes a project.
What these experiences build does not stop at graduation. The testimonials from our students tell this better than any statistic: the trajectory then continues thanks to the alumni network, mobilised long after leaving the school to circulate opportunities and connections.
