Our programmes in marketing

What is a marketing MSc?

A marketing MSc is a Bac+5-level degree that provides training in building and steering a brand, growth and customer relations strategy. It is part of the full range of Excelia Business School's Master of Science (MSc) programmes, which cover several major fields of specialisation at this level of study.

At Excelia Business School, each marketing MSc is State-accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, leads to the Grade de Master and is listed on the RNCP (France's National Register of Professional Certifications) at level 7: a dual recognition that secures the value of the degree on the labour market, in France as well as internationally. This recognition is accompanied by the international dimension of our programmes.

This is a direct answer to one of the most common hesitations among applicants: how do you compare marketing degrees that are as numerous as they are disparate? Excelia Business School answers it with a quadruple accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA and EFMD Master), a benchmark of academic quality that fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide can display.

Digital marketing, sales, events: three career paths

Excelia Business School's marketing domain covers three distinct career paths, which call for neither the same skills nor the same positions: digital marketing, sales and business development, international events.

The Master of Science (MSc) in Digital Marketing & Business Intelligence provides training in digital marketing: web strategy, automation and digital transformation of customer relations, with agile growth methods.

The MSc in Marketing and Sales Management provides training in sales and business development, which take place mainly in B2B, that is, between companies: negotiation, customer relations and international sales form its foundation, with skills that are transferable from one sector to another.

The MSc in International Event Management and Marketing provides training in international events, which covers the design, organisation and management of large-scale events: event strategy, project management, sponsorship and budgeting, with growing attention paid to the ecological and societal challenges of the sector.

These three career paths set the framework, but each programme has its own courses, its own rhythm and its own admission arrangements. To go into detail, you can request the brochure for our Master of Science (MSc) programmes.

The marketing careers accessible after an MSc

A marketing MSc opens the door to positions of responsibility, divided according to the domain's three career paths: the position targeted depends as much on the career path chosen as on the level of the degree.

Depending on the career path, graduates gain access to these roles:

  • Digital marketing: digital marketing manager, web project manager, search engine optimisation and online advertising specialist
  • Sales and business development: sales manager, sales engineer, business developer, sales director
  • International events: events division director, event project manager or officer, programming manager

At Excelia Business School, the support of the Talent Centre helps each student to refine their trajectory throughout the pathway: one-to-one coaching, interview preparation, work on applications.

To explore these careers in more detail, two resources go deeper into the subject: the marketing careers that are hiring and the marketing director career.

Entry level, work-study and application

Entry to a marketing MSc can take place at two possible points: in the first year after a Bac+3, for a 24-month course, or directly in the second year after a Bac+4, for a 12-month course. Excelia Business School selects on the basis of an application file, which brings together a CV and a professional information sheet, then at a motivation interview, to check that the project is consistent with the career path targeted.

Part of the offering is accessible through work-study at Excelia Business School, with a rhythm and arrangements that vary depending on the programme chosen. What remains constant, however, is the coverage of costs: as soon as the professionalisation or apprenticeship contract is signed, all of the training fees are borne by the employer.

Excelia Business School's range of Master of Science (MSc) programmes is spread across the La Rochelle, Tours, Orléans and Paris-Cachan campuses, and the campus, the language of instruction and the precise rhythm depend on the programme selected. Whichever career path is chosen, the pathway concludes with an end-of-studies dissertation that makes it possible to explore a subject linked to the professional project in greater depth, then continues with work-study and the support of the Talent Centre.

Your questions about the Marketing MSc programmes at Excelia Business School

Which marketing MSc should you choose?

The choice is made by career path rather than by programme title: digital marketing for a taste for data and automation, sales and business development for negotiation and customer relations in B2B, international events for project management on an international scale. Each career path leads to a dedicated programme.

Do you need a technical profile to work in digital marketing?

No: digital marketing above all draws on skills in data analysis, project management and growth strategy. A profile motivated by data and performance is more at home there than a developer profile.

Are the Marketing MSc programmes available on a work-study basis?

Some of Excelia Business School's Marketing MSc programmes are available on a work-study basis. The rhythm and the precise arrangements depend on the programme chosen.

What entry level do you need for a marketing MSc?

Entry is after a Bac+3, into the first year of the MSc, or after a Bac+4, directly into the second year. Excelia Business School selects applicants on the basis of an application file, then at a motivation interview.

What careers are open after a marketing MSc?

Job prospects depend on the career path followed: digital marketing manager or web project manager on the digital side, business developer or sales manager on the sales side, event project officer on the international events side.
