Overview
The Executive Master Grande École is aimed at established professionals with at least five years of experience who want to take on more strategic responsibilities without interrupting their professional activity. Business owners, executives, managers, entrepreneurs or consultants, whether they are aiming for career progression or preparing a career change, will find a programme there that prepares them for managerial and strategic roles.
Why choose the Executive Master Grande École?
The programme prepares executives, managers and business leaders to manage wider responsibilities. You deepen your strategic vision, your leadership and your transformation management in a complex environment, with immediately applicable skills in your company.
After several years in the field, you have acquired much of your know-how on the job, over the course of your roles and projects. The programme gives it a framework: the academic input helps you to structure your knowledge and gain perspective, while exchanges between peers lead you to measure your practice against that of other professionals.
You come away with an overall view of the company. Strategy, finance, marketing, team management, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, energy transition: the modules cover the main functions of an organisation and the transformations it is going through, so that you understand the trade-offs made by each department before making a decision. And because you remain in your job, what you work on in class is put to the test in your day-to-day professional life, throughout the programme.
A Bac+5-level degree, backed by an accredited school
The Executive Master Grande École leads to the Grade de Master, recognised in France and internationally, and awards a level 7 certification listed on the RNCP (France's National Register of Professional Certifications). It is offered by Excelia Business School, which holds the quadruple accreditation EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA and EFMD Master: Excelia Business School's accreditations give the details.
For an experienced professional, this degree puts a recognised qualification on skills that have often been practised for years. It remains accessible with a Bac+2 when the validation of professional achievements (VAP) recognises your experience in management or project management, and your pathway can then take you up to Bac+5 level.
A programme designed for working professionals
The teaching alternates between in-person and remote learning: each month, 3 days of classes on the Tours campus or on the La Rochelle campus, followed by 1 day remotely. Tours puts you at the heart of a dynamic cultural and economic heritage, La Rochelle facing the ocean, in an open city geared towards innovation. In this way, you follow the programme without interrupting your professional activity.
You learn from lecturer-researchers and more than 650 experts from the professional world, in practical scenarios that test academic input against the realities on the ground. The pathway concludes with a Capstone Project, a strategic project carried out on a real issue in your company and supervised by an academic tutor. Your employer gets a tangible return on investment from it. An optional Learning Expedition also offers you a week of international immersion in a strategic country.
Eligible for the CPF (personal training account), the programme can also be funded through other schemes: the amounts and procedures are set out in the Funding tab.

How you learn
The programme is based on a diversity of approaches and on a balance between academic, practical and collaborative input. You progress through:
- Face-to-face classes with our lecturer-researchers, to structure your knowledge and gain perspective
- Sessions led by experts working in companies, which anchor the teaching in the realities on the ground
- Practical scenarios, including the Capstone Project, to apply what you have learned directly
- Exchanges between peers, which stimulate collective intelligence and encourage a broader perspective
- Online self-study modules, including the TASK™ sustainability knowledge certificate and Exceliaprime®, to reinforce what you have learned at your own pace
Three projects at the heart of the programme
The Capstone Project closes the pathway. In it, you address a real issue in your company, with an academic tutor by your side, drawing on all the skills you have acquired. It leads to concrete, operational solutions.
The professional thesis is a piece of applied research, a genuine lever for strategic thinking: in it, you explore a managerial or organisational issue in depth, which strengthens your expertise and brings direct value to your organisation. A research methodology module is part of the programme.
The Learning Expedition, which is optional, is a one-week international immersion in a strategic country, chosen for the richness of its ecosystem and its role in the major global transformations. There, you meet local players, discover new dynamics and broaden your strategic horizons.

How to fund the pathway
Four schemes make it possible to fund this pathway, depending on whether the process goes through your employer or through you:
- The skills development plan of your employer, for companies with fewer than 50 employees
- An OPCO (skills operator), approached by your company
- Your CPF (personal training account), for which the programme is eligible
- Your personal funds
If you are changing career, or for a project undertaken in a personal capacity, the CPF and your personal funds are the schemes you draw on at your own initiative. When your employer supports the process, the skills development plan and the OPCO come into play. In every case, a dedicated person supports you at each stage: application, enrolment and funding follow-up.
What the company gains from it
Are you an HR manager or a manager considering this programme for an employee? The hybrid format keeps them in their job for the 15 months of training, at a rate of 4 days of training per month (3 on campus, 1 remotely). What they work on in class finds application in the company throughout the pathway. The Capstone Project addresses a real issue in your organisation: supervised by an academic tutor, it leads to concrete, operational solutions. The professional thesis also brings direct value to the organisation.
Your employee comes back with an overall view of the company and strengthened managerial legitimacy, two solid foundations for entrusting them with broader responsibilities. If you are looking instead for a scheme built around the needs of your teams, Excelia Business School's tailor-made in-company training meets this need.
At Excelia Executive Education, we offer personalised support to help every profile — company, employee, self-employed person or public sector employee — to make their training projects a reality by drawing on the most suitable funding schemes.
