Alumni feedback
Meeting Ligiannah Mohamed, a former Algerian-Togolese student on the BBA International.
Could you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Ligiannah Mohamed. Of Algerian-Togolese origin, I grew up further south, in Cameroon, with my parents, who worked in the diplomatic world. Today, I live in a small town in Bavaria, in southern Germany.
I have been a logistics operations manager at Amazon for more than 2 years.
Before choosing to pursue my higher education at Excelia Business School, I was a student in Terminale littéraire (final year of secondary school, literary stream). I had questions about my future and my direction, and certain doubts kept me from deciding. The only thing I was certain of was that I absolutely wanted to spread my wings and be immersed in a new culture. On the other hand, working within a company had always interested me, but I did not quite know which sector to head towards.
How did you find out about Excelia Business School?
I found out about Excelia Business School through an international agent, who visited my school to promote it a few months before the baccalaureate. That came at just the right time, since I was lost!
This Excelia Business School international manager took the time to explain to us all the opportunities that the school and La Rochelle offer students.
I was particularly won over by the Humacité© mission, which reflected my humanist values and my taste for adventure and sharing.
Why did you choose to study at Excelia Business School?
Honestly… I did not have a plan at the start. This is, in fact, the case for many baccalaureate holders.
I did know, however, that I wanted to pursue higher education combining theory and immersive experience in companies, in the country of my choice.
Excelia Business School turned out to be the ideal choice for me, as it ticked all the boxes and met my career goals.
- Having an international background myself, it had always been clear to me that I wanted to live in a foreign country for my studies, in order to broaden my horizons. I knew that France would give me a warm welcome
- Excelia Business School's Humacité© humanitarian, social and solidarity scheme was a key factor in my decision. This several-week mission was hugely enjoyable and opened a new window onto the world for me
- The professionalising pathway offered by Excelia Business School is quite rare. I was able to carry out my academic course over 4 years, combining work-study both in France and internationally. I would do a first semester at Excelia Business School and the second semester abroad
- Of course, the possibility of academic expatriation was a deciding factor, since my aim was to immerse myself in a 2nd country and learn a new language. I chose German
What course did you follow at Excelia Business School?
I chose to study the BBA International, an extremely rich and comprehensive 4-year professionalising programme.
Over these 4 years, I built up 2 years of professional experience through work-study, completed 1 Humacité© mission and a year abroad. I opted for a rather special programme: the Franco-German double degree, during which I was immersed in German culture for 2 years. I then specialised in logistics in the final year.
Looking back today, I can say that the BBA International course met all my expectations.
What did you learn, personally and professionally, at Excelia Business School?
Excelia Business School taught me to become increasingly independent. Excelia Business School very often put me in uncomfortable situations. I had to work in groups, give presentations in front of a large audience, work independently on projects within companies, and go on expatriation.
All these enriching experiences, both personally and professionally, helped me grow. And thanks to these varied experiences in companies, I came out of my 4 years of study at Excelia Business School with a full and rich CV. Which is not necessarily the case for many friends who chose other schools.
Where are you today in your professional career?
After finishing my master's degree, specialising in logistics, I received a job offer from Amazon for Germany. This offer matched my career goals. So I seized the opportunity.
I work as a logistics operations manager at Amazon in Germany. I am very fulfilled in my job. The company I chose challenges me and encourages me to step outside my comfort zone. In the end, I stayed in Germany, even though that was not my original plan. I am living a wonderful adventure; I dared to go for it in a country far from my family. That is also what you learn at Excelia Business School: boldness and the ability to challenge yourself.
In a few words, what would you say to an international student wishing to study at Excelia Business School?
I would say that Excelia Business School allows you to push your limits, step outside your comfort zone, discover yourself and discover the world. The Humacité© and Climacité© missions are truly extremely enriching on every level, both personally and professionally.
