Podcast: Clémence Delattre — Travelling to discover yourself and to share
Adventure story
How did a 17-year-old young woman, eager for independence, turn her passion for travel into a mission of welcome and intercultural sharing? From Belgium to Spain and Norway, Clémence spent several months travelling the world, absorbing the local culture and taking different courses.
Discover the inspiring testimony of Clémence, a BBA International student at Excelia, in Les Étincelles, the podcast that highlights the journeys of our students.
The call of the world
Originally from Bordeaux, Clémence has always been driven by a thirst for discovery and a desire to explore the world. Although her own family travels were limited, the stories of her globe-trotting grandparents fuelled her imagination and her desire for adventure.
After gaining her baccalaureate, Clémence chose Excelia for its BBA International, attracted by the school's human approach and the international opportunities it offers. La Rochelle, with its warm atmosphere and human scale, proved to be the ideal setting to begin this new stage.
Rather than Erasmus, Clémence prefers the Humacité© programme
From her first year, Clémence took part in a Humacité© mission in Waterloo, Belgium, at a community fridge. This experience left a deep impression on her, notably because of the influx of Ukrainian refugees following the global events of 2022.
Her second year took her to Barcelona, where she worked as a marketing and business development assistant. This professional immersion allowed her to develop her skills while absorbing the local culture.
Oslo: a transformative adventure
Feeling the need to reinvent herself, Clémence decided to continue her third year in Oslo, Norway. During these few months in the north of the world, she was confronted with a different academic environment, one that favours autonomy and individual study in class.
Outside classes, Clémence enriches her travel experience by discovering the climatic and cultural particularities of Norway, confronting her with new challenges and memorable moments, such as the national day on 17 May or the Midnight Sun festival in the Lofoten Islands.
Sharing and welcoming: a vocation
Back in France, Clémence felt the need to share her experience and to help others settle in. She therefore became a "Buddy" to make international students feel welcome in La Rochelle. Convinced of the importance of cultural immersion, she strongly encourages her peers to open themselves to other cultures and to seize opportunities for travel and exchange.
