Can you do a Master's on a work-study basis?

Yes: a Master of Science (MSc) or the Master in Management (Programme Grande École), two bac+5-level qualifications, can be prepared on a work-study basis at Excelia Business School. Work-study takes the form of an apprenticeship contract or a professionalisation contract, with a 12- to 24-month immersion in a company. The qualification you obtain is the same as on the standard track: the same listing on the RNCP (France's National Register of Professional Certifications), the same Grade de Master.

In what form, and for how long

Two contracts let you prepare an MSc or the Master in Management on a work-study basis: the apprenticeship contract and the professionalisation contract, both open to the private and public sectors alike. In both cases, you alternate between classes and the company during an immersion of 12 to 24 months, a length that depends on the programme and your level of entry. Torn between work-study and a standard internship? The difference between work-study and an internship will help you choose. Here, the question is simpler: is it possible?

This extended immersion changes what you learn: skills don't stay theoretical, they're built in real situations, which has a direct impact on your employability afterwards. One feasibility point that many people overlook remains: work-study applies at Master's level, not from the first year of a post-baccalaureate course. It only becomes a real option once you already hold a bac+3 or a bac+4. Excelia Business School has, in fact, offered work-study for a long time: it has run its Master in Management as an apprenticeship since 1997, nearly three decades that have let it build a network of partner companies and support to help you find the right contract.

What work-study changes about the qualification and the fees

The pace changes, but not the qualification: the one obtained on a work-study basis is strictly identical to the one obtained on the standard track, with the same RNCP listing and the same Grade de Master. The objection that a qualification "obtained on a work-study basis would be worth less" therefore doesn't stand up to the facts, and the recognition of our qualifications, whatever the pace followed, details all the guarantees.

Financially, work-study changes everything: in this format, tuition fees are not your responsibility and the contract is paid. Work-study at Excelia Business School, contract by contract, details who funds what and how the contract is paid, question by question.

All that remains is to choose which of these bac+5 qualifications matches your project, since several MSc programmes are accessible on a work-study basis: Excelia Business School's Master of Science (MSc) programmes present the whole range on offer, area by area.
