What is an open day at Excelia Business School?
An open day at Excelia Business School is a day on one of our four campuses, by registration, to see a business school from the inside before applying. You talk with the teaching and administrative teams, you meet students, and you discover the programmes, with your family if you wish.
Each day is held on a specific campus: the La Rochelle campus, the Tours campus, the Orléans campus or the Paris-Cachan campus. The list of upcoming dates, higher up this page, shows the campus for each event.
Not compulsory, but strongly recommended
The open day is not compulsory in order to apply. It nonetheless helps you understand the teaching approach and confirm your direction before submitting your application.
If you are worried about a sales-style event where the main aim would be to sell you the school, keep three things in mind: you register, which lets us tailor the welcome to your career plans; you come to form your own opinion, questions in hand; and nothing obliges you to apply afterwards.
The day is a key step in your career guidance, especially when you are comparing several schools or want to check for yourself what the brochures promise. There's no need to have already chosen your field: the day is precisely there to help you refine what appeals to you.
What's on at an open day
What's on at an Excelia Business School open day: discover the programmes, find out about admissions and funding, visit the campus and the city, ask all your questions. Here, point by point, is what you can do there and what it means for you.
- The programmes, from Bac to Bac+5: you see what each course covers and find the one that matches your plans
- Finding out about admission and funding arrangements means knowing, before you apply, what steps lie ahead of you
- All your questions are welcome with the teaching and administrative teams, including the ones that feel too simple
- Career prospects are understood alongside the programmes: you choose with the job in mind as much as the name of the qualification, and you can already explore the careers open to you after a business school
- To picture your everyday life on campus, you talk about student life and societies
- You visit the campus and the city with student ambassadors, and you see the places where you would study
- You talk with students and graduates, and you hear about paths actually lived, not just descriptions
- The overview of placements, work experience and time abroad shows you all the opportunities the course opens up beyond the classroom
- Budget and support: talk with our advisers on site to estimate your budget and identify the support suited to your situation
The student ambassadors are members of the XL Ambassadeurs society: Excelia students who present the school to secondary school pupils and their families at our events. Their role is to inform you as well as possible, help you discover the campuses, student life and the various programmes, and support you personally. This commitment is part of student life at Excelia Business School.
How to prepare for your open day
To prepare for your open day, jot down a few questions by theme before you come, ask the same ones at each school so you can compare, and come with your family if you can.
Preparing your questions
Five themes are enough to structure your questions:
- The programmes: what teaching, what projects, how much practical work?
- Admission: what steps, what criteria, in what order?
- Funding: what is the real cost, what support is available, what payment facilities?
- Campus life: where to live, how to get organised, which societies to join?
- Going abroad: what opportunities, and at what point in the course?
And if you haven't chosen your field yet, come anyway: your uncertainties make good questions.
Coming as a family and planning your budget
Parents are welcome, though it isn't compulsory. Parents, your own questions have their place: the ambassadors also inform families, and the teaching and administrative teams answer on admission, funding and career prospects.
Before you come, also estimate your budget with the tuition cost calculator. You'll find an initial estimate of your costs and an overview of the support available for your situation: you arrive with a sense of the figures, and your funding questions start from your own situation.
Open day or immersion day: which one should you choose?
Choose the open day to discover a campus and its programmes by meeting the teams and the student community, and the immersion day to experience a real day of classes. Open days suit you when you are still comparing several schools and looking for answers; immersion, when a school already appeals to you and you want to picture yourself there.
