Managing with kindness and high standards

Managing with kindness and high standards

Overview

This training in kind management brings your managers together for 2 days, face-to-face, to develop a common management approach within your organisation. Founded on mutual knowledge between the managers, this common foundation also makes it easier to welcome new managers.

Why choose the Managing with kindness and high standards course?

Kindness is not laxity: the course aims for the balance between kindness and high standards, two qualities that your managers learn to hold together rather than set against each other. It also engages them in a reflection on the balance between high standards, clear-sightedness and trust, in order to set a clear framework without giving up on listening, and to be demanding without losing the relationship that moves a team forward.

They work on fair authority, assertiveness, supporting their team members' progress and providing support to their teams in the face of tensions; the detail of the programme's three sequences appears in the Curriculum tab.

A common management approach for your teams

Bringing together the managers of a single organisation around a shared way of managing makes the collective day-to-day easier, as it does the arrival of a new manager, who then inherits reference points already known to their peers. The course is built from the successes and difficulties that participants actually experience, which makes it directly applicable in work situations as soon as they return to their role. It forms part of the offering of Excelia Business School's Executive Education Centre, designed to meet the continuing education needs of organisations.

Two days to leave with tools

The course takes place over 2 days, or 14 hours, face-to-face, with active pedagogy: numerous practical scenarios, analysed in groups, supplemented by individual tests and recommendations for each participant. Your managers leave with concrete tools to embody a balanced managerial stance, which they can put to use as soon as they return to their role. On the main management styles, the dedicated article sets out the reference points that make it possible to compare this approach with the others.

The skills targeted

At the end of the course, your managers will be able to:

  • Step back from their management style
  • Strengthen their communication and their stance as a manager
  • Give meaning, set a framework and support teams with the right touch
  • Handle difficult situations and prevent stress
  • Develop balanced management, combining kindness and high standards
  • Build a collective dynamic based on trust and cooperation

These six objectives largely overlap with the skills expected of a manager, which they help to consolidate in professionals already in post.
