Parcoursup : comment ça marche pour une école de commerce ?

Parcoursup: how does it work for a business school?

Guidance team - October 8, 2026

Admissions

On Parcoursup, a business school application has its own vocabulary: choice, sub-choice, application fees, waiting list. Not all private courses recruit there, but Excelia Business School offers three undergraduate programmes there. This article walks through the procedure, from registration to the response.

In brief
Three programmes can be applied for on Parcoursup: the Bachelor in Business, BBA International and the Master in Management (Programme Grande École).
You make a choice, the school reviews your file, then replies "yes", "on the waiting list" or "no".
The whole application is made on the official Parcoursup website.

Why choose Excelia Business School?

Excelia Business School is a private higher education institution of general interest (EESPIG), with not-for-profit status and under contract with the State. It reinvests its resources in pedagogy and in supporting students.

Its qualifications are state-recognised.

The Bachelor in Business and BBA International are State-accredited and lead to a Grade de Licence. The Master in Management after the baccalaureate leads to a Grade de Master.

The school holds four international accreditations: EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA and EFMD Master. Fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide manage it. You study on one of its campuses: La Rochelle, Tours, Orléans or Paris-Cachan.

How do you apply in 6 steps?

An application is submitted only on the official Parcoursup website and follows six steps, which are detailed in the official presentation of the procedure:

  1. Find out about the course profile: conditions, arrangements and fees.
  2. Register by creating your file on Parcoursup and make your choices.
  3. Complete your file and confirm each choice. A confirmed choice is a choice that is reviewed.
  4. Let the school review your application. This decision rests with the Excelia team, not with an algorithm. Depending on the programme, a motivation interview completes your file. The page for each course details its arrangements.
  5. Receive the responses
  6. If you need it, go through the additional phase

To prepare your choices before the platform opens, use Excelia Business School's Parcoursup preparation area. It has been designed for secondary school pupils and their parents. On the day itself, you apply on the official Parcoursup website.

The dates for each step can be found in our article on the Parcoursup calendar.

Choices: how many, and in what order?

You can make up to 10 choices, plus 10 choices for apprenticeship courses.

Three points to remember:

Your choices are unranked: you do not have to rank them.

The date of entry has no influence.
Each course sees only the choice that concerns it.

In general, a cover letter may be requested from you in the Parcoursup file. Our Parcoursup cover letter example helps you write it.

Yes, on the waiting list, no: what to do with the responses?

Each offer requires a response before the deadline shown in your file. Remember to reply in time to keep your place.

Yes: the school offers you a place. You accept or you decline.

On the waiting list: your choice remains active and your position moves up as withdrawals occur. You keep all your chances.

No: you can ask the school for the reasons for its decision.

You accept one offer at a time. Definitively accepting a place amounts to giving up your other choices.

If no offer suits you, the additional phase allows you to make up to 10 new choices. You can be supported by the higher education access commission (CAES) of your académie. Excelia Business School publishes its responses during the main phase and may offer remaining places in the additional phase.

Parents: stay informed

You receive admission offers at the same time as your child if your email address and mobile number appear in their Parcoursup file.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to pay to apply to a business school on Parcoursup?

No for registration, which is free. Some selective courses, on the other hand, ask for application fees, from which scholarship holders are often exempt in part or in full.

Does a business school see my other Parcoursup choices?

No: a business school only knows the choice that concerns it, not those you make elsewhere.

What does "on the waiting list" mean on Parcoursup?

The course has not yet offered you a place, but your choice remains active: you move up the waiting list as other candidates withdraw. It is not a refusal.

Can you accept several admission offers on Parcoursup?

No, only one at a time. Definitively accepting an offer means giving up your other choices.

What should you do if you receive no offer on Parcoursup?

You can make new choices during the additional phase, in courses that still have places. The higher education access commission (CAES) of your académie can also support you.
